Add the ferrite ring to one end of the wire. We will call it the board side. After doing 3 loops around the ferrite ring cut the wire leaving enough space to add heatshrink tubing.
Insert 1/16″ heatshrink tubing to the 4 wires, strip and tin.
Use a ribbon cable with 4 conductors, 28AWG would be the lightest still manageable when soldering, as the extension. Cut to size, strip and tin.
Now solder the board end of the stock IMU cable to the ribbon wire keeping in mind the color code used.
Slip over the 1/16″ heatshrink and shrink the tubing. Remember not to use excessive heat since the stock silicone wire is fragile.
Now use 3/16″ size, longer piece of tube to cover the solder points, 1/16″ tube and both stock and ribbon cable.
Repeat the same steps at the IMU end of the stock cable.
