On the fly dual speed joystick function
Once the joystick is centered, push twice (2 clicks) to change the joystick throw to half rate (half speed). This will reduce the Ronin response by approximately half which will help in making ultra slow movements and corrections. Push the button twice (2 clicks) again to resume full speed movement. When you power up the Ronin MX with the Joystick plugged in, the joystick will always start on full speed mode. The 2 click function break down
- Power up – Full Speed
- 2 clicks – half speed
- 2 clicks – full speed
- 2 clicks – half speed and so on.

Changing Speed / Rate
By clicking down on the joystick twice (2 clicks) you can go back between full and half operating speed.
How To Change Speed
- Double Click the Joystick > Half Speed
- Double Click the Joystick > Full Speed
- Double Click the Joystick > Half Speed

Note: The joystick ships in full speed mode (full throw). The joystick also remembers your last choice even when you power off the gimbal or remove the joystick from the Ronin. Example: If you changed the speed the half speed and then power down the Ronin, next time you power up the speed will be half speed. To change back to full speed double click (2 clicks) on the joystick.
Changing Modes
By clicking down on the joystick 3 times (3 clicks) you can switch modes on the Ronin like you would, using the included Ronin wireless controller. The 3 clicks function will mimic the 3 position switch in the radio. Each time you click the joystick 3 times the switch function will cycle through the different modes as follows.
- 3 Clicks – Up Position
- 3 Clicks – Middle Position
- 3 Clicks – Down Position
- 3 Clicks – Middle position
- 3 Clicks Up Position
- ……..
The Joystick ships in “Free Smooth Track On Mode” which will be indicated by the BLUE led.
3 Click Sequence
- GREEN POSITION 1 – Free Smooth Track Off
- BLUE POSITION 2 – Free Smooth Track on
- RED POSITION 3 (no roll control) – Reset to Center SmoothTrack On

Note: The Joystick will remember the last mode at power off.
Invert Joystick Direction
If you would like to invert any axis without using the Ronin Assistant, you can use the following click sequence.
Pitch(Tilt) Axis
- 4 Clicks will invert the Pitch(Tilt) Axis
- 4 Clicks will revert
- ……
Yaw(Pan) Axis
- 5 Clicks will invert the Yaw(Pan) Axis
- 5 Clicks will revert
- ….
If you have the Dual Joysticks with full 3 Axis Operation
Roll Axis
- 5 Clicks will invert the Roll Axis
- 5 Clicks will revert
- ….
Note: The Joystick will remember the last state of sticks direction at power off.
Note: All changes to functions except the speed setting, will be saved to the joystick non-volatile memory.
